    Bread for Astronauts

We worked on food, nutrition and health, and above all we tried the preparation of our best food: Bread!
Our city, "Chieri", were we live is also famous for a typical product derived from wheat flour, the breadsticks "Rubatà".
Here some pictures from our extra Mission X experiments!!!

  • À velocidade da luz...quase! At the speed of light...almost!

    At the speed of light

Today we did a quick and interesting activity... almost ... at the speed of light.

It was very interesting to note that only with a ruler we were able to discover who are the most concentrated and the most distracted of our team.

We trained our attention, concentration and coordenation in a very easy way.

We are about to be astronauts.
We already train at the speed of light!

  • Lyneham and Broad Town's mission X

One of our favourate mission X sessions has been cokking space meetballs, they were so yummy. The meatball recipe we used, has been creeated by N.A.S.A. as a helfy balanced diet for astronauts. In this lesson we learnt all about healthy diets, and how astronoughts prezerve there food, also got to eat shreddies with powdered milk in a bag.

Another one of our favourate lessons, was the acrilic space badges. During this activaty we picked a space picture and stuck it on a peace of luminous plastic then used a hacksaw to cut out a the basic shape. Then we used a certain type of machine, which name i can't remember, to create the proper shape. It was very, very, very, very, very, FUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Lyneham's BLOGGING

Today at Wootton Basset school we have been investigating out how rockets work and it was awesome!.First of all we had to get some ethanol and put it in a plastic bottle then we had to connect some crocidile clips to the end of the bottle. At the end of the bottle was an eletrical gun wich when you pressed the trigger and you had to see how good aim you had because you had to hit a target ours was the closest but no one hit the target. Another one of our sessions was when we had to create some acrilic badges at first we had to do some really simple cutting and sticking. Then we had to use a hacsaw to cut the shape of our chosen picture in to the acrillic plastic. Once everyone had done that we had to file our badges and that proved hard for me........until i got a rhythm, then it was quite easy. Once we had our badges we had to create our chosen picture using stickers, that was pretty easy. Then we had to stick a badge pin on our badge then we where done.

A month and a half ago we started this amazing journey called Mission X, First of all I thought "what is this?"and "what are we doing here?". Our first sesson of the expedition was to explain how rockets work and what fuels are best. This sesson was great and I think we all had fun.My 2nd favourite sesson was the "how to uncode and code russian phrases". For this task a group stayed in 1 classroom and the other half of the 2 groups went into another classroom to decode messages and relay them to "ground control" on a walkie talkie. Our team did really well and we won! We all really enjoyed ourseleves and we all went home with a smile in our faces.
But my favourite one out of all the ones i've been to is ... The making of the space pizzas because me and my friends from my school all had fun and we all ate theirs (apart from me:( ) (they all had to be healthy, of course!)

Well it was fun writing this blog, but it's time to go... so peace!

  • Noremarsh at Wootton Bassett school!!!!!

A few weeks ago we were making badges out of acrylic, this was one of my most enjoyable sessions. It was realy fun because it involved a lot a lot of cutting and at one point we got to use a power tool. I decided to make a rocket, we used a template to make the shape correct. After we'd cut them out we got to decorate them and put details on with foam like double sided sticky tape.

Our very first session was making fake urine to show the effects of dehydration in space. We got given a urine chart to test out if we were dehydrated or not. Only at one point was my urine dehydrated, but that was after two hours of football then two hours of cricket so I should have been hot, and that made it likely for it to be dehydrated. If your urine was a brown colour you would have to seek medical attention.

  • Wootton Bassett school!!! England.

A few weeks ago we made model rockets! It was awesome! We made water rockets, bicarbonate of soda and vinegar rockets then we launched a big gunpowder powered one. It flew really high then activated the parachute, sadly it drifted over the landing field and landed in a near by street. Still it was epic!

Last week we made a mini model of a solar wind sail. We made them out of: wood, card board and glue. At the end we raced our models. Mine and Matt's went the furthest so we won. we won a book with space things in it, a space puzzle and some Mission X stickers. We were allowed to take our models home.

Another lesson was learning Russian! We had to translate Russian into English and then back to Russian again. this was hard but we all had heaps of fun!!!

  • Vrooom! Auf zur Mission X-Ralley!

    Alex alias Speedy Alex!

  • Flat FitKids seen in Puerto Rico

Flat FitKids in El Castillo San Felipe del Morro

Astro Charlie and the rest of the FitKids visited the island of Puerto Rico. They visited Old San Juan and El Castillo San Felipe del Morro. The construction of the Castillo San Felipe del Morro began in 1539 when King Charles V of Spain authorized its construction, including the surrounding walls. The purpose was to defend the port of San Juan.It was also constructed to control the entry to the harbor.

In 1680, Governor Enrique Enríquez de Sotomayor begun the construction of the walls surrounding the city of San Juan, which took 48 years. By the late 18th century, El Morro's walls had grown to be 18 feet (5.5 m) thick. Today El Morro has six levels that rise from sea level to 145 feet (44 m) high. All along the walls are seen the dome-covered sentry boxes known as garitas, which have become a cultural symbol of Puerto Rico itself.

    Seguiremos realizando pruebas ...
